Parvez Ahmed weighs in on Ground Zero Mosque

"A vast common ground does exist, a point that the leader of the Cordoba Center, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, evokes in his book "What's Right with Islam Is What's Right with America." There is no better way to defeat the morally bankrupt ideology of al-Qaida than to seek that common ground."
-Professor Parvez Ahmed

  1. 8-20-10 It took me a while to figure out why this article from the blog "Speed of Life" by Gregg Chadwick is the current lead article on our website. The article goes into great detail to "clear up" 11 misconceptions about the proposed "Cordova House", now referred to as "51 Park". Mr Chadwick reminds us that mamy Muslims died in the Sept 11 attacks and that even some of the first responders were Muslims. He includes a two minute video clip showing the distance between the site of the WTC towers and the proposed "Islamic Center", and included pictures of established businesses in the area that could be conceived as offensive. He reminds us that President Obama, former Mayor Ed Koch, and current Mayor Michael Bloomberg are in favor of this "Islamic Center" and suggests it will bring people and activity into an area struggling against blight. Included is also a two minute video clip of President Obama stating that "Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country", a fact that we all know without our president lecturing us.
Then the author goes on to praise Imam Feisal Abdul-Rauf as the type of leader we should celebrate, at which point there is one paragraph attributed to Profesor Parvez Ahmed, the same paragraph you can read on our "homepage" without even clicking on and reading the rest of the article.
This whole article was posted by "FaithForFreedom". I am assuming Faith takes exception with the author Gregg Chaddwick and posted the paragraph by Parvez Ahmed simply to show Mr. Ahmed's support of Imam Abdul-Rauf.
I guess it's beneficial to know the Left's arguments in favor of "the Mosque". Most of us know they're within their legal rights. That still doesn't make it right.
