Fmr FBI expert on Islam and Recipient of the "Defender of the Homland" Award oppossed Parvez Ahmed as Human Rights Commissioner

Members of the Jacksonville, Florida City Council,

By now, I suspect you have been inundated with calls, emails and letters regarding your decision to consider Parvez Ahmed to be the Human Rights Commissioner for Jacksonville. I am sure this has been a difficult time for all of you as you have likely been overloaded with information about Ahmed and the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR). I wanted to give a few simple objective facts, which I hope may make this process an easy one for you all.

I am a 1989 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served nearly 7 years as an Infantry and Force Reconnaissance Officer in the United States Marine Corps, including combat operations in Desert Shield/Storm. From 1996 to 2008 I served as a Special Agent in the FBI's Washington Field Office. My area of expertise is the Islamic Movement / Muslim Brotherhood in the United States, and various Islamic terrorist organizations. I created the first extensive training program in the U.S. government in 2006 for which I was awarded the "Defender of the Homeland" Award from Senators John Kyl and Joseph Lieberman. I now serve as an advisor to senior leaders in the United States on these issue.

Regarding the topic at hand, the FBI ceased official contact with CAIR in the fall of 2008 because CAIR is a Hamas entity, as demonstrated by a mountain of evidence in the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) trial, which ended successfully in November 2008 in Texas. HLF was the largest Hamas front uncovered and prosecuted in U.S. history, and the trial itself was the largest terrorism financing trial in U.S. history. This is why CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in this case. The national leaders of CAIR, Nihad Awad and Omar Ahmad, are senior Hamas operatives. Omar Ahmad led the U.S. Palestine Committee for Hamas - this was also proven through numerous documents during the HLF trial. All documents referenced were admitted unopposed by the defense in this case.

Several members of congress have officially stated their concerns about CAIR and in January 2009, five members sent a memorandum entitled "Beware of CAIR" to all members of the U.S. House of Representatives informing them of CAIR's status as a Hamas entity, and of the fact that FBIHQ ceased all contact with CAIR. Specifically, Congresswoman Sue Myrick of North Carolina, who is also the Chairman of the House Anti-Terrorism Caucus said:
"According to the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, CAIR has documented ties to the terrorist organization Hamas...The Department of Justice named CAIR as an un-indicted co-conspirator to the illegal activities in the trial. Shortly after the trial, the FBI severed all ties with CAIR. Following this, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY), Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) and Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ), among other elected members of Congress, called for a government-wide ban of CAIR. Recently, the FBI served a warrant for internal documents of CAIR, which implies an investigation. When you ask me to respond to CAIR, you are asking me to reply to the propaganda put out by the propaganda arm of Hamas in the United States."

Parvez Ahmed was the previous Chairman of the Board for CAIR's National Office. This means he was the Chairman of the largest Hamas front organization in North America. Hamas is a designated terrorist organization. Considering Ahmed for this position, instead of calling for his arrest and deportation, is not only dangerous for the citizens whom you represent, it is against the law because he is a known member of a terrorist organization.

I understand that the retired Special Agent in Charge of the Jacksonville FBI Office is prepared to speak on behalf of Parvez Ahmed, and has done so in the past. I encourage you to review the facts of this issue and not the personal opinions from an individual with an important title about a Hamas operative while the legal facts paint a very different picture. Mr. Cromwell's position on Parvez Ahmed and CAIR are not in accordance with official FBI policy. I encourage you to contact the FBI's Washington Field Office, which is the focal point for the CAIR issue in the FBI, if you need additional information or doubt what I am presenting in this email.

I also encourage all of you to go to http://www.nefafoundation.org/hlfdocs.html to see the documents and their relevance from the HLF trial confirming the contents of this email.
The official trial documents can be found at http://www.txnd.uscourts.gov/judges/hlf2.html

I hope you all find the wisdom you need to determine the just outcome to this important issue before you.

Sincerely,

John Guandolo
